The Family and Community Engagement AmeriCorps Member serves to complete outreach and be the families’ connector to community resources. Creating materials for and providing one-on-one support as a portal for families with children 0-5 to help them connect to needed services and resources

 

Service Position Type Half Time (900 Hours)

 

Term August 17 (Returning Members only) or September 3, 2021 – June 30, 2022

 

Average Weekly Hours 25 Hours

 

Living Allowance $359.52 twice each month.

 

Education Award $3,097.50

Provided at the end of the program year for student loan debt or tuition. If you are 55 years or older, the Education Award can be transferred to a family member.

Education and Minimum Qualifications
? Must be 21 years of age
? Have a high school diploma or equivalent
? Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
? Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria according to 45 CFR 2540.202.
? Satisfy the South Carolina Department of Social Services Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect for the purpose of home visitation volunteer Services
? Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and current insurance if using a personal vehicle for company work.

 

Essential Functions
? Conduct calls, home visits, and/or virtual meetings to families to give them access to services.
? Plan and host community meetings (in person or virtual) giving partner organizations needed resources and information about FS4K, ECAC, and Local
First Steps Partnerships working under SC First Steps mission and vision.
? Help families to find services by making referrals that align with identified needs.
? Manage and maintain good professional relations with families.
? Ensure the completion of progress notes and other case record notes on time.
? Support development and maintenance of client records and program documentation.
? Host outreach activities, such as partnering with other organizations, attending community events, giving informational presentations at universities, clubs, or civic groups to promote FS4K, ECAC, and Local First Steps Partnerships.
? Arrange transportation of clients (if required).
? Oversee quality of care complying to contract requirements for contacting clients by phone, letter, and conducting home/residential visits.
? Monitor and manage children in absence of parents during group sessions.
