GENERAL SUMMARY

 

Input data into the Power School system and related applications and provide data and reports from the Power School to local school and central office staff. Encourages students attend school regularly. Reports to the Principal.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Schedules and prepares for Intervention Plans for truant student.

 

Prepares parents for student referrals to truancy court.

 

Assists with internal attendance audits.

 

Keeps current and accurate records of attendance ensuring that EFA codes are accurate.

 

Supervises and receives the collection pupil accounting data for submission to the District Office.

 

Organizes and presents periodic enrollment, membership, and other attendance related reports.

 

Confers regularly with the Principal regarding students who are frequently absent.

 

Develops programs to promote regular school attendance.

 

Refers cases of chronic absenteeism, tardiness and/or truancy to the district attendance supervisor as required by the District attendance policy.

 

Investigates attendance programs reported by others.

 

Assures that all students attend school in the designated area on a regular basis.

 

Contacts parents on third consecutive day a student is absent. 

 

Enters attendance daily in the computer.

 

Consults with students on tardiness and reminds parents of official school beginning time.

 

Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

 

Interacts with others in a respectful and cooperative manner at all times.

 

Willingly performs other related duties as assigned or as required.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of responsible secretarial experience, preferably in a school environment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 

 

Knowledge:

 

Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Lee County School District as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Power School Clerk. Has thorough knowledge of the organization of the District. Is knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Is able to make sound, educated decisions.

 

Skills/Effort:

 

Ability to follow directions accurately, typing, knowledge of business English, vocabulary, punctuation and grammar, filing methods, office machines, ability to meet the public and maintain effective working relationship with children and adults. Knowledge or word processing and computer procedures. Ability to type with speed and accuracy. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Trustee policies. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff and students.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, key a two-way radio microphone, operate a keyboard, and use a lock and key; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; articulate information in an emergency situation; use physical agility and strength to defend self and detain persons using force if necessary; and have the visual acuity necessary to observe and comprehend student movement.

 

Responsibility:

 

No budgetary or supervisory responsibility.
